Lookbook: Oscar de la Renta Resort 2014

Less is definitely more, and it shows on how Oscar de la Renta presents his new Resort 2014 collection, showcasing a day capsule that played with traditional and experimental check-fabrics alike. Prince of Wales check skirtsuit versions are printed or embroidered and cut in a draped ’50s day strapless cocktail dress and cinnabar tipped boxy jacket, while flowers as timeless statements pursued a gracious way of celebrating femininity, through a myriad of beautiful blossoms.

Drawing from the styles of the 1950s and 60s, all selections embody flattering silhouettes, accentuating the female physique with peplums, small waists and billowing skirts. Palettes of grey, pink and navy blue, with hints of yellow serve the entire collection with numbers of pattern and print, included everything from tartan to florals, and often these were combined simultaneously in one look, for example in a glorious floor-length black and white gown in which brightly colored flowers crept upwards to the waist, or violet blooms are attached to an acid green evening gown.
