Modeled by the Fresh Face and Teen Vogue cover girl Imaan Hammam, the new women’s lookbook of Dsquared2 Resort 2016 collection was all about the loveliness of both retro and modern trends. From the feminine 50’s of polka dots and gingham print to mod motifs like color blocking and mini dresses, mixed with the urban 90’s where culottes, cropped blazer, and heeled sandals are paired, this collection is then finished by the combination between beach sporty meets bohemian glam of pure 70’s.
A style of its own some might say, this super chic and fresh resort collection sparks between versatility and styles for all urban and edgy-chic girls out there, as the Egyptian-Moroccan model sports number of top fashion forward selections that creatively designed in most favorite notable ready-to-wear pieces, starting from afternoon line-ups to evening numbers.
In cool palette combination between neutral shades and bright fully neon color-block, it’s pretty clear to see how designers Dan and Dean Caten had a modern surfer lady in mind when they created the looks with layers of knit leggings and a long sleeved top with mock necks nodded to rash guards, which all are matched really well to create the scuba gear effect.
And, this sporty beach-inspired also come to life by the appearance of tropical Hawaiian hibiscus prints and techy fabrics, while a standout patchwork suede skirt and jacket had a kind of quietly crafty-by-way-of-Venice-Beach appeal to it.
Moreover, besides all of the surfing-inspired looks that featured among the proposals, the glams of boho 70’s and the edgy of 90’s do bring sparkle to the small line-up of lovely pieces. Spring bags were thrown together with layers of cargo jacket, cropped blazer, parka, and oversized coat, while the suede patchwork, the poncho, the little mini dresses and skirts that worn with leggings, all evoke the general feel of the collection.
When it comes to the evening options, it’s really nice to see the sweetness of T-shirt maxi in color-block, but the appearance of a halter neck gown in black with long sleeved top underneath and simple chain embellishment belting around the waist is classic yet super lovely. Plus, there’s also a cute golden 70’s styled, wrapped bodice gown with pleats, which possibly one of the loveliest look among the evening options.
Still embracing the sporty aura of the collection, this gold plissé lamé gown slit up the thigh that has been complemented with tight leggings in black underneath, the dress itself cinched at the waist with a belt and with long sleeves to look like the diver is attending a special occasion just after the beach.
