Introducing a new line ‘Violeta’ dedicated to curvy and voluptuous ladies in sizes 40 to 52, Spanish fashion label Mango presents the new Spring Summer 2014 collection featuring stunner in designs of several leather and denim pieces, a few dresses along with statement accessories to match such as studded belts and bracelets, pumps and gladiator sandals. Feminine, comfortable and on-trend pieces seem to be Mango’s focus for the new line which is currently available to Europe-based fashionistas.

For this Mango’s first plus size line, the Spanish retailer enlisted Australian plus size model Robyn Lawley and Spanish beauty Vicky Martín Berrocal for the new catalog, showcasing several interesting looks with a cool casual flair. With regard to comfy plus-size fashion alternatives, the new range offers various fashion staples of denim pieces, leopard and floral printed blouses, blazers and summer Bermuda, feminine dresses such as LBD printed sheaths, as well as faux leather jackets and knitwear.

However, the first reactions weren’t all that enthusiastic regarding to this new collection. Many have though that although the first catalogue was modeled by two fabulous plus size ladies, both Robyn and Vicky seem to be like a regular curvy girl-next-door. Thus, making many customers underwhelmed by the new offerings and bothered by the assumption that size 12 falls in the ‘plus size’ category.

In responding the controversy of their new products, the label stated that there are key differentiations between Mango Violeta and other plus size retailers. What differentiates the brand is the attention to technical details, pattern to pattern and size to size, and the selection of garment materials and fabrics, promising a high quality collection for any moment of the day, aimed at a modern and demanding woman who wants to feel attractive, sexy and fashionable. Not to mention the label will be unveiling new looks from the new Mango Violeta each month.

All in all, aside from any controversy surrounding the launch of this new line, the design patterns and the cute ways of accentuating and flattering the body make this collection an irreplaceable variant for many fans of Mango. This collection has been launched online in the UK on January 15 and in store in its seven largest markets: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Russia and Spain.
